Top 5 hidden gems in Ireland
Hidden gem is a term thrown around a lot but what we would class as a hidden gem at Dunes is somewhere that isn’t on most course ranking lists and somewhere that the overseas visitors is yet to hear of. Thankfully in Ireland we have an abundance of these so this list could be much longer which made it tricky to whittle it down to the best 5 !
1 – Ardglass
The best way to describe Ardglass is that its like the younger sibling to The Old Head of Kinsale. Perched on a cliffside around 30 minutes from the world famous RCD, Ardglass is a must play for any of those visiting the North. Lots of these links course are tough and demanding but the beauty about Ardglass as it is much more playable than the other courses you will have on your itinerary.

2 – Cashen Course Ballybunion
In our opinion if the Cashen course was located anywhere else other than right next to The Old Course it would be ranked as one of the finest courses in the country. Having recently undergone a redesign and re routing of the course with more to come over the next few years the aim is to make the course a little more playable. We just hope it doesn’t lose the “madness” that makes it such an incredible course throughout that process.

3 – Donegal Golf Club
Known the locals as “Murvagh” if Ardglass is playable, Donegal is anything but. Up there with The European Club Donegal is considered one of the toughest tests of golf in the country. At almost 7,500 yards long off the back sticks its probably best to play off forward tees. Although its tough it is also an incredible golf course and definitely one not to be missed on a Northwest itinerary

4 – Seapoint
Located just over the fence from the world famous County Louth Golf club Seapoint is a great addition to make it a 36 hole day when you play here. Seapoint is an incredible blend of English like heathland on the front nine before coming into its own with a truly Irish Links back nine. This blend provides some deferent to anything else you will see on an Eastcoast Itinerary.
